That mimicks Pope in all it dares to Write.
Tho' Wit and Judgement far behind are left,
It's hoped that Pope thy Cholick Mood will heft.
Of cult'ral Topicks high and low it sings;
Pierian Springs and You Tube Things it clings.
So, fly to <a href="http://www.valleyoftheshadwells.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">Valley of the Shadwells</a> soon--
Thy clicks, my woful Hackny couplets' boon!

Throw out your TV and do not pay the bbc!
I go to the pub for important sports programmes.
For music Radio 3 or my own.
For very biased news Radio 4 but not for long as my anger grows. Then their is periodicals I trust, bbc world, and the internet.

Of course it is made up! But God was guiding the person who was making it up. And since you can't see him, how can you decide which religion he was behind?

Honestly, if you tossed out "made up" religions, you'd have to dump them ALL.

The point I was seeking to make is that something seems a little wrong when the president of the National Secular Society is describing any religion as 'legitimate', particularly when the religion concerned is as patently faked-up as 'wicca'.

How do you distinguish "made up tosh" from all the other religions? Walking on water, the dead rising again, and multi-armed blue goddesses AREN'T made up tosh?

Kramer's article took away all the respect I had for The New Yorker. Not because I politically object to her views, but because of the dismal job she did discussing the case, being so obvious in her sympathy of El Haj's side without even bothering to explain what her critics' points were. Hinting that Columbia preferred to silence El Haj so that Jews in the City would help it to expand its campus on the expense of poor Morningside Heights residents was a particularly elegant touch.

When certain parts of academia lost touch with reality and will to pursue truth, they simply stopped mattering in the real world. The same goes for certain parts of the media.

When I was in contact with Mr. Esses after his article in Nation, he admitted to me that he did not read El Haj's book. After reading Ms Kramer's peice I doubt she has either
